3 Easy Steps: How to Make a Claim for Financial Mis-Selling

Step 1. Gather paperwork, documents and any other relevant information about your product

When you suspect you’ve been mis-sold a financial product, the first thing you should do is contact the bank or building society in question to raise your dissatisfaction. If you are not completely satisfied with the response you are given, then gather all of the relevant paperwork you have about the policy or product so that you are ready to make a claim.

When speaking with your bank or building society it’s important to remember that certain providers, i.e. Lloyds Bank for example, were fined £117 million in July 2015 for being inconsistent in their complaints handling procedure. (1)

If you can’t find any paperwork or information about the financial product, don’t worry. EMCAS have agreements with many providers, where we require very little information. For some products we can submit your complaint to the bank using just your name, postcode and date of birth, so you don’t need to search for paperwork that could be over ten years old.

It’s impossible for us to start your claim until you’ve sent the pack back to us with the signed letter of authority so the sooner you send your pack back the quicker we can start your claim.
 
Step 3. Wait for your claims progress updates   

The final step, once we’ve received your pack, is to get started on your claim. From here we will do all the work from start to finish and keep you updated every step of the way. We will inform you of any progress made towards successfully reclaiming any compensation you may be owed.

If your provider tries to contact you in regards to your claim, just let them know EMCAS are dealing with your complaint and any enquiry they have can be passed our way. We will handle all communication between you and your provider, saving you time & hassle.
