About EMCAS
EMCAS was founded in 2003, it started life as a claims management company helping consumers gain compensation and refunds for mis-sold financial products and unfair charges. Since then the company has grown to be one of the UK's leading professional financial claims management companies and has secured more than £250 million in compensation and refunds for thousands of customers.
EMCAS was established as a direct result of the 'Endowment Mortgage Mis-selling Scandal', as the founding directors, Graham Lafbery, Nicholas Hamlet and Adrian Devine, had been victims of mis-selling after taking out their first mortgages during the late eighties and early nineties. Realising the enormity of the problem and the lack of help and support offered by those that had sold the policies; the trio formed the company to assist members of the public with their financial grievances on a 'No Win No Fee'* basis.
Having managed the company from its fledgling stage the Directors and Shareholders decided in 2009 that it was time to take a step back. A new board of Directors was appointed with the capabilities required to take the company further whilst expanding the services and products EMCAS can offer customers.
EMCAS have witnessed a growing demand for advice and support for consumers who are in debt, this being the case EMCAS introduced a Debt Solutions service as a way of helping consumers regain financial stability. Through our claims management service EMCAS have helped improve our client's financial position, however as a result of the economic downturn the need for debt management services has increased. The introduction of EMCAS Debt Solutions will enable EMCAS to offer consumers a holistic approach to financial management, which will enable them to regain control of their finances.
EMCAS have recently undergone a change in ownership. Working with Lonsdale Capital Partners and the previous owners, the management team were able complete a Management Buy-Out of the business in early 2011. Lonsdale will support EMCAS' existing management team which will be led by Craig Bernhardt - Chief Executive Officer and James Scarth - Chief Finance Officer, in growing and developing the business in line with our corporate values and objectives. Craig and James are also supported by the recent appointment of Non Executive Chairman - David White.
This recent change to EMCAS’ structural alignment has been motivated by the management teams desire to expand the business and venture into new products and service offerings which focus on providing a more holistic offering for our customers. Obviously it goes without saying that EMCAS will grow the business in line with our corporate values – Being Pioneering, Trustworthy and Acting Responsibly and with Integrity.
